Age Concern Tameside provides and Information and Advice service to people over the age of 60, their relatives and carers. We have staff who speak Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi and Bangla which makes the service accessible to the black and Asian minority communities.

Our office is open Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 4.00pm. You do not need an appointment for general advice however the office is extremely busy so it is wise to telephone first. We offer a home visiting service for people unable to travel into our office.

Part of our role is to assist older people to maximise their income, we are able to assist people with the following benefit claims.

Attendance Allowance (for ages 65 and over)
Disability Living Allowance (for ages 60 to 64)
Bereavement Payment (for ages 60 and over)
Carers Allowance (for ages 60 and over)
Incapacity Benefit (for ages 60 to 64)
Pension credit
State Pension
Winter Fuel Payments

We are also able to assist with claims for Housing and Council Tax benefit. In certain circumstances we are able to approach benevolent funds on behalf of older people for financial assistance once all other avenues have been explored.

We are able to assist older people with debt issues, we can offer advice, help to complete financial statements and liaise with creditors.

Our service is provided by trained staff and volunteers, we carry identification which you should always ask to see.
