provides free, confidential, independent, impartial advice to the general public.
- personal callers during the advertised opening times (see below) plus
- limited telephone answering times (see below) or
- by letter.
Advice covers a wide range of subjects:
Benefits, Housing, Consumer, Relationship issues, Employment, Legal issues, Immigration and Nationality, Health and Taxes etc
There are specialist appointments for Disability Benefit claims.
Specialist Immigration and Nationality session (no appointment needed):
Tuesday 2 - 4pm
Specialist Employment session (no appointment needed): Wednesday 2 - 3pm
The main premises have;
- access for wheelchairs and offer facilities for the deaf.
Times
- Main Bureau Office & Reception hours: 9 am to 5 pm weekdays
- Open Door, no appointment needed: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 10 am to 12 noon;
Wednesday: 10am to 3pm.
- Telephone advice (0161 330 2156): Tues. 10-4; Fri. 10-12 (subject to
staff availability)
Additionally, Tameside CAB also currently provide ...
- Appointments for complex debt, welfare benefits and
employment cases.
- Outreach advice sessions at Hattersley Community Centre (Friday 9 -
12noon)
- Specialist Advocacy Project for Older People placed by Social Care and Health Services in
Residential or Nursing Care Homes.
- An Information Shop in Ashton to provide an independent
information service about all aspects of Residential & Nursing Care
homes in Tameside, including details of current vacancies, & details on
Home Support Agencies
- Money Management including Debt and Welfare Benefits advice for residents of Harbour Farm/Copley
and Brushes housing areas
