Cash Box Credit Union is a community owned and run savings and loans co-operative based in Tameside, east of Manchester in the North West of England.

Anyone who can demonstrate that they live or work in Tameside is eligible to join Cash Box Credit Union.

Members save with the credit union for a short qualifying period and can then apply for a loan on the basis of what they have saved. Loans are repayable over a maximum period of three years at the very low rate of just 1% per month on the outstanding balance!

All members' savings and loans are covered by free life insurance, at no additional cost to the individual member, financed from the interest received from loans granted. Surplus income from interest is redistributed to members as an annual dividend on savings.

Unlike established bankers, Credit Unions will accept members regardless of income status and grant the sort of loans which only unscrupulous lenders will offer at hugely inflated interest rates.
